There is allot of competition for vet med places at uni these days and as you can only apply to 4 what are people doing with their 5 option and if they get no interviews would they take it? Just curious!

Courses like bioveterinary science and zoology are popular choices, as are more general things like biology or biochemistry. All of which would enable you to apply to veterinary medicine on an accelerated graduate course.
If you definitely want to be a vet, the general advice is not to do another degree. Take a gap year and reapply to save yourself a couple of years and a hefty sum of money.
Personally my backup was biovet at Liverpool, and if I hadn't have gotten in to vet med then I probably would have accepted it.

I had a fifth choice but I knew that if I missed my offer I'd probably take it. To get round this I simply never gave myself the option- I selected two vet courses as my firm and insurance meaning it'd either be vet med or nothing. Worked for me; really removes the temptation just to go to uni and study something even though you don't want to
