I am struggling to find a reliable guy to date. I met one guy at the socialising group at meetup.com, ended up wasting my time and efforts as he would drop out or not turn up at the last minute. I moved on. Then the same has happened again with another guy. These guys show me interest and smile etc but as the groups are so large we struggle to go over, approach and talk. The last guy who was quite flaky has moved over to City Socialiser. I don't know if I should go to City Socialiser as I was going to go before he started going or if it would look like I was chasing him. I tried online dating but had no luck. I just want someone who is going to turn up and when they do to chat.

They are around, it's just a case of finding them. I'd advise exploring all avenues to meet someone, you never know what may happen.

I'm a guy, and have been to many events on both sites. I haven't been to events on both sites for quite a few years now, but there was stiff competition there for ladies. Men usually wouldn't overtly ask them out at events but rather try to befriend them and hang out with them at another time.... and then try move things along. I would see sometimes women complain that they were getting too much random messages from men there too. One girl there who I "tried" to date told me the amount of attention she got on there was scary. I would say you should give city socializing a try. How much attention you get will depend on your looks. Men are a bit more picky on there than internet dating. Ugly women will find it challenging to secure a partner ...whereas online it's easy.

meetup.com is mostly full of older people i noticed, but still most of the males there are looking for women. If guys keep flaking on you there ....then the truth is you're probably nothing special looks wise, i suggest you lower your standards when you go to city socializer

Get your friends to set you up with a guy they know
I would always advise to date people who they dont know. Things can get really messy if things dont work out and you have a whole group of "friends" and aquaintances blaming you for stuff.

Which platform(s)? Try again, it's probably the best bet for a girl in your position :yy:

POF, eHarmony and OK Cupid. I don't know if match.com works.

Hmm, the later two are actually half decent platforms. In what way would you say you were unsuccessful on them?

eHarmony had a lot of dormant profiles and OK Cupid had a lot of people from Morocco of France messaging. It just felt like window shopping. *

Maybe try again and this time specify what you're looking for vs. not looking for more explicitly? :holmes:
