I am an incoming final year student. I will be applying to graduate/summer internships from a semi-target. My question is, how can I tailor my applications' cover letter to each bank if I don't have any connection to them (didn't attend presentations because there was none on campus, don't know anyone at the firm, etc)? I guess I could write about awards a bank has won but that's not enough.

Firstly find out who it is exactly who you will be speaking to (search LinkedIn) and address them by name (not Sir/Madam)
State the position you are applying to and where it was advertised.
Begin the first paragraph with your studies, the knowledge you gained and how can it apply to the role
Do the same for your work experience, even though it may not be relevant, try to find a skill that can be utilised in both roles.
In your closing paragraph reiterate why you want to work for the company (mentioning a recent event).
Thank them for their consideration.
Yours sincerely (if you know the persons name)
