Is it a good idea to take economics a level along with AS level politics or would they be seen as too similar. Would maths AS be better? My subjects would then be biology chemistry economics A level and maths AS but then i have no essay based A level/AS bringing me back to Politics AS

Depends on what you want to at uni if economics you should do maths for a bsc or politics for BA but not all unis require you to have maths to study a bsc.

I'm also doing economics and politics along with history and R.E. Personally I believe that politics would be the better choice for you, as it would add variation to the sciences, as well as show off your essay writing skills.
