I've just graduated with a First class MEng Chem Eng from Nottingham uni. I contacted a potential supervisor at imperial who seemed to be very interested. She emailed me during her holiday and asked me to have a chat over the phone when she is back. After I sent her my cv she also asked if she could send my cv to the industrial sponsor.
I had the informal interview today. I'm not sure how to feel about it. I think I was really nervous and couldn't express what I wanted properly. She was really nice and explained everything about the programme. She asked me submit my formal application to the uni and email her once I done submitting. She also said the industrial sponsor liked my background as well.
I don't know what to feel about this. I thought she would accept me straight away but instead I will have to go through an interview panel. Also, when I asked about the competition, she said she got rid of other people and I'm the only one now applying.
What do you reckon about all this? Thanks

There isn't much to 'reckon' to be honest. She liked you as did the sponsor from the sound of it but you still have to go through the uni's processes to get a place. I'm assuming this is a PhD place. The uni has quality control measures in place because they have standards to maintain. Otherwise everyone and their aunt would be able to do PhDs wherever.
