Oh man, there is someone else who listens to J-rock here?

I'm a bit of a Visual kei fan, so check out Phantasmagoria. Great stuff.

X-Japan also rule, if you prefer a bit of glam with your rock.

If you're into the softer stuff, try out The Back Horn and Bomb Factory for your fill of pop-rock.

I love a lot of artists in the Japanese rock/noise scene. Boris, Boredoms, Guitar Wolf, Acid Mothers Temple, Fu****susha and Melt-Banana are all awesome.

Not a fan of Visual Kei stuff though. Reminds me too much of glam rock!

My only experience with J-rock is inset songs from anime, such as GOD KNOWS and LOST MY MUSIC from Haruhi, and stuff from the bands Spitz and Suga Shikao.

This thread will win with new recommendations.

Is J-rock the stuff that tends to be with anime? I'm not into that stuff, but I've come across it...

Not always, Far more often anime has J-pop, or electronica, or some classical japanese music or something.

Not being a big Japanese, Manga or Oriental Karaoke fan, I don't know much about Japanese artists.

But Mad Capsule Markets were pretty huge about 5 or 6 years ago. They had broken into the American and European rock charts. I'm not sure how Japanese they are. In any case, whatever they sing doesn't make any sense to me.

The band is very much Japanese. The singer chose to rap certain songs in English (although his English is pretty bad and afaik, he mixes Japanese up with English). They're the only J-Rock I know who have made it "big" in the West.

Yep, it was on a Tony Hawks game soundtrack.
