    Hey there,

I want to be as quick and effective as I can in talking to universities, mainly due to the immense stress of it all, however I'm not entirely certain on how I am meant to be able to tell if they would even consider me?

I failed my offer for English at Southampton, getting a BDD, the B in English Lit. A lot of these uni sites are taking me to their usual entry requirements so am I correct in thinking that they pretty much want those grades?

I suppose I'm just asking how I should decide which unis to phone and if there's an easy way to see what they're wanting.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

At some universities it is a bit of a buyers market, so call up and just ask the question. You may get a couple of rejections but some universities will be flexible with grade boundaries. Are you set on any particular area/uni?

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

There is no quick way, I'm afraid. You have to put the leg work in, I'm afraid. Not all universities reduce their grades in Clearing and English is very over-subscribed. You need to look at everything yourself and move quickly.

    Hello Ryan,

First of all, congratulations on your results.

Most universities will have a list of their Clearing opportunities and the typical grades that they require. Ours can be found here: http://www.le.ac.uk/clearing2016/

I would suggest that you take a little bit of time to have a think about the Universities you are interested in. Did you visit anywhere other than Southampton?

If you would like to discuss English at Leicester, give our Clearing helpline a call on 0116 373 6000.

    Good luck

    Hi Ryan,

I am sorry to hear you didn't get into your first choice, but don't panic clearing is an easy way of finding a university that is right for you.

Have a look on UCAS at the English courses available, we even have a couple of places left on our English Literature course.

If you want to call us for clearing advice or more information about the course you can reach us on 03330 432 414.

If you want, and I would recommend this for you, you can use the Live Chat system to speak to a member of the team instantly online, this can save you time and you can have multiple tabs open.

good luck and I am sure you will end up on a good course!
