I just picked up my A2 results, I was predicted AAB but ended up with 3 pretty strong A*s. I hadn't considered Oxbridge before but now it seems that it's a possibility.

I have an offer from Notts for 3 As which was pretty nice, but seems a waste when I've got 3 A*s.

I was thinking of getting some relevant work experience or an internship in an IT/Software firm for the year, or anything else that would benefit my application. What are the chances of me being succesful with applying to oxbridge next year?

You are certainly heading in the right direction, but there are no guarantees. As you have some constructive plans for a gap year, there's no reason why you shouldn't re-apply. The likelihood is that you would get another offer from Notts.

However, if you like Notts, you shouldn't decline just because you think 3 A*s would be 'wasted'. You wouldn't be the only person with those sorts of grades to be there, by any means, and there is more to the quality of the uni experience than uni prestige.

I would definitely consider Oxbridge. There is nothing wrong with taking a gap year.

Find out what the Oxbridge courses code in primarily (Normally, a combination of Java/Python.) Smash those for a year. Your PS will be gleaming.

    Also, consider Imperial.

Nottingham is a great university. You can do better, though.
