It's the most frustrating feeling in the world ending up 2 UMS (or in my case, half a mark) off my offer and being rejected.

I needed A*AA for English at Exeter, and despite achieving full UMS in English, I only got a B in RS - 2 UMS off of my needed A. Although I've sent off for a remark (I achieved a D in one exam despite achieving two high As at AS and getting an A in my mock) I know how strict they're being this year. Bye bye Exeter.

Anyone else in the same/similar position? (bloody edexcel)

I've already phoned up to say this (and mention how close I was) but they said they couldn't admit me with lower grades! (Despite their course offers being A*AA-AAB)

Fingers crossed my remark works out, but if not, insurance here I come.

Me too! I missed both my firm and insurance by 2 UMS. I honestly think it's much worse than missing by 10+ UMS as we were so close, seems ridiculous when you think about how someone with one more raw mark than us will be at uni. I know there has to be a cut off point but still.

Unfortunately my missed grade is maths so I think it's unlikely to change even though I've sent off for remarks. Both unis wanted A* in Maths and A in Further Maths, I ended up with A* FM but A Maths which makes it even more annoying for me.

Best of luck, I hope everything works out for you!

That's so frustrating! I know exactly what you mean, I was almost happier knowing I hadn't gotten in and not knowing how close I'd been. You see so many stories of people getting offers with much lower grades and your heart breaks a little

Congratulations on such fantastic results though! I hope you're happy where you end up, and good luck with your remarks!
