Got AAB with one UMS off an A in chemistry but, with the recent remark news, is my grade unlikely to go up? I don't know whether to start revising for the UKCAT or not.
Also, I got one UMS off an A* in biology- full marks in my second paper but a C in my coursework. Is there anything that can be done about the coursework eg. retakes, or is it worth getting my first biology paper remarked (which I thought I flopped on and don't want to risk my grade going down).
Pretty confused so needing a little advice, thanks

    Hi

It is unlikely for your mark to go up on the new remark system - however you might as well try, if after discussion with your schools exam officer, you both agree that is the best thing to do.

I wouldn't just remark papers at random to try and up grades (with reference to your biology paper) - it may go down, and then that's the grade that sticks.

I wouldn't advise re-taking - medical schools don't really like resits unless they're done due to extenuating circumstances.

It may be best for you to consider graduate entry medicine?

    Remark
Worst that can happen is it stays AAB
    Do the ukcat anyway
    Reapply

    Otherwise
Go for biomed and do grad entry

remark system is only weird for physics and a couple other subjects, bio should be normal i think

Yea, I thought the remark changes only affect where the marking is 'open to intepretation'. Would've thought that wouldn't affect Chem much.

But either way, get it remarked. For one UMS, you just have to hope and pray that it'll go up!

Also, if you're still going to do your UKCAT, does that mean you're AS? If so, your grades are fine for medicine! You'll be predicted AAA for A2 and that's what matters on your UCAS form so don't stress!

Thanks all for the advice and no, I'm in year 13 and was unsuccessful on this round so was hoping to reapply provided I got the grades. I guess I'll just have to hope for the best then.
    Thanks

Chemistry seems to have been the killer for everyone this year. I missed out on the A as well from a **** F325 mark. I'm getting a remark as I've just read back over the paper and confident I done a lot better than what my grade is showing. I'm at the point where I genuinely think the marker has missed a page or done something weird.
