I've never done a remark before, but I think I need to. I got my AS results today and got AABB, which is not good as I need 3As for what I want to do. One B was in history. I needed 83/100 for an A, but got 80/100. Is there the chance that I'll get the three marks? The other is for economics, which I can't see the unit marks for, as it's reformed, but will probably request a remark anyway.

So does remarking actually do anything? What's the likelihood of it actually going up?

    Thanks

The standards for remarking have been made a lot more strict this year, so it's not as easy to pick up marks through a remark anymore. An extra three marks isn't impossible I guess, but won't necessarily be easy. It's ultimately up to you, and I'd speak with your teacher about whether a remark is a good idea for you.

It's history, the marking is based on interpretation for the most part, get any 2 examiners to grade a history paper and probability says they'll be different so go for it! I think it's sensible but do remember you could always drop marks although getting the same grade is unlikely tbh

Wait I did forget to mention all the reviews that would probably make them the same mark… but I do think if any exam was to change by 3 or more marks it would be history

So basically they're going to be harsher with remarks? Oh god, life ruined.

Your life definitely isn't ruined, As and Bs aren't exactly the worst grades you can get  Whilst they might be harsher, it's not impossible for them to remark you to the extent that you can bump up a B to an A

I found out that I'm three marks off an A in economics as well as history. If I get both history papers remarked and both economics papers remarked then surely they'll be able to give say... 2 in one paper and 1 in the other.

Only the people doing the remark will know tbh
