Under the thumb!

This is quite a stupid problem but its really getting on my nerves! Basically my boyfriend's friends keep telling him that hes "under the thumb" and implying that I'm some sort of control freak - when in reality I'm anything but! We do spend time together but we also think its important to spend time with our different groups of friends too. We have our own separate lives outside eachother and I like that.

He goes on loads of lad's holidays with his mates and is always going out with them, yet they still keep saying it! Its not like I try to stop him going out with them. They never say it to my face either but they've said it to my best mate and posted it in convos on facebook/myspace etc.

My mates reckon its because I'm my boyfriend's first proper girlfriend. Hes been with a few people in the past but only for a week or so, nothing very serious. Maybe his friends are trying to rib him about it coz they're not used to him having a girlfriend.

I really dont know! Any advice? They're making me out to be some kind of controlling weirdo! lol

Ignore it! As long as you and your bf know that isn't the case then let them think what they like. They're probably just trying to wind him up and like you said, aren't used to him having a serious gf.
Yeah sounds like they're just doing it in that slightly bullying way but not really meaning anything by it way that guys do. Ignore them! Maybe they are jealous of him. Or of you, maybe they want him to think they'd be a better lover for him...it's just too difficult to know for sure.
It's just male banter, seriously. You ask him to stay in once, he'll be under the thumb. Ignore it. Or better still, laugh it off and show them you have a good sense of humour.

Ignore it. As Laces says, it's banter.

They'll only ever be half serious when he misses a 5-a-side footie match to go shopping with you!
Yeah just laugh at them and don't take it seriously. :p: They're only trying to wind you and your bf up!
I doubt they are serious just ignore it or even play along with it, sounds like typical behaviour from us males.
My boyfriend and his friends always have a banter about this...they tend to leave messages on each other their face book...saying 'whipper' 'whipped' and other childish comment!
