Acceptable for bra straps to show?

Hey!

I'll be wearing vests this summer but the straps are reeally thin so my bra straps will show. I don't want to buy those strapless bras because they always feel like they're going to come off!

My bras are usually black colour. Do you think it's ok for your bra straps to show if you're wearing a vest? :s-smilie:

What about with a halterneck top?

I've never had a chance to ask anybody this. :p: Another thing, the back of my halterneck tops is usually very low and the back of my bras show. Is this socially acceptable? My hair is long enough to cover it, but just in case people start bitching (?) behind my back because the back of my bra is showing.... what do I do?

I let my bra straps show, and I've seen so many people that do. I don't think it's a big deal at all, although obviously some people really do care and get paranoid about it.

For the halterneck tops you could try one of those bras specifically designed for them that tie up round your tummy, but I have no idea how comfortable they would be, or where you'd get them from.
sometimes they look tacky.

That sounds uncomfortable :s-smilie:

Does it look more tacky if the bra straps are white?

I just thought about something! If bra wires are metal, how do I go through a metal detector at the airport? :p: Will they ask me to take off my bra?!  ha! Just thinking of the worst case scenario  :s-smilie:

LOL no. I'm pretty sure they go undetected, but they'll just use the beepy scanner thing and make sure it is your bra wires.

For halterneck tops, do what *Sparkle* suggested and get a halterneck bra. For other tops, either wear your normal bras or buy a couple of new ones with pretty straps if you can find them.

It's daft for someone to moan about your bra strap showing, because at least then they know you're wearing one - and I'm sure they'd moan more if you were walking around bra-less.

lol thanks guys. I've gotta go find a halterneck bra now. :p:

try and match the colour of your bra to the top, then it just looks like the top has double straps.

I don't see the problem.
Mine always show.

Yay I feel a bit better now  :p: lol

Everyone leaves them showing! Just make sure you aren't wearing a black top and a white bra!

I think it can look tacky or sometimes even slutty.
If you must wear a bra with straps with a strappy top, then at least make sure the bra colour matches your top, and that the straps of the bra aren't those awful old-lady thick ones. Wearing a normal bra with a strappy top does, however, look better than those God-awful plastic "invisible straps".
Normal bra with a halterneck top looks even worse, because there's no excuse what with all the halterneck bras on the market.
Plus, while I can understand your concerns about strapless bras, there are some very good ones out there that don't feel like they're about to fall off, so I'd suggest trying on some more before you write them off completely.

lol. And mine are always well random colours. Today we have red top with aqua blue bra straps.
and judging on the fact neither of my brothers have said anything about it (they always call me up on fashion "caz...you look like a slut" or "caz..wtf is that?") im gonna assume its not awfully sluttastic

Mine show.
I don't care lol.
I think it looks fine with a strappy top, providing the straps aren't all washed out and yellow or something. However I think it looks awful when someone wear a halter top with normal bra straps showing, sorry! There are some good strapless bras about, I've got one from La Senza and I'm a 36DD and it stays up fine throughout the day!

With strappy tops i think its fine! Its riddiculous to have to wear strapless bras with them, they are meant to be like casual, you dont wanna have to bother with strapless bras. As for halternecks, ive seen people with see-through straps.. you cant see them that much. Also the multiway bras they go several ways, and i think some have a halterneck option. I dont like to see the back of the bra in them though, if it does show, maybe try attaching the top to the bra, with a hair clip or something?
I do it all the time. I don't care really. It's a casual look and I can't be bothered faffing about with strapless bras for a casual look.

How about with boob tubes? I just tried mine on and it's great but I don't have any strapless bras to go with it, should I definitely get some or is it ok to have bra straps? If I have bra straps I've got more support so it kinda looks better, I'm worried strapless bras don't give as much support?

i'm with everyone else, i don't think it matters! though i don't wear halternecks purely for the reason that i just can't be bothered faffing around with a strapless or halterneck bra

If you're going to wear a bra with a boob tube, then you have to make sure that the straps are the same colour as the top, so that basically it looks like they are part of the boob tube. Otherwise, I wouldn't suggest wearing a strappy bra with a boob tube, and you'd be better off with a strapless one.
