    hi there,

I've recently being trying to get some voluntary work in the medical field and I have so far not been successful. however, my school does offer plenty of voluntary programs such as helping children with English as a second language, organising and raising money by charitable means etc...What my real question is "does your voluntary work have to be medical,"

    thanks for any help

Voluntary work doesn't have to be medical. Those things listed are fine.

Work experience is what should be medical.

However, do also look into volunteering at hospitals/care homes etc around you. I'm sure you already have as you said you've not been successful but try popping down with your details on a letter stating you'd love to volunteer. Leave it with them with your contact details if they don't need anyone at that time but may do in the future.
