... i got accepted to do the MSc Comparative Politics in latin america at the LSE ...

..versus the MA Latin american area studies at the school of advanced studies at the university of london.

Which is better?

I also want to do this course, specifically the LSE one you have been accepted to or the Oxford one. Any info would be appreciated. What undergrad degree/score etc did you have? What place? What you put on your statement?

cheers,

Nicolo,

I got a 2:1 from Leeds University. I don't know if the LSE is the best to study latin america...on the other hand, it's very prestigious. I get the impression that if your passion is latin america, then the school of advanced studies degree is probably the best .... it's a hard choice though. I don't know about the Oxford degree.

Cool. How you funding? Also, had you studied Latin America before? I've only ever written about 3 essays on it...there are no other options to take 'post independence' L.A at cambridge in history either, beyond what I've done already...Ive mostly just done some private reading.

I've never studied latin america at Uni before, mostly private reading, and attending lectures when i was in mexico and chile. i was thinking about the Cambridge one too, but it's an MPhil isn't it? I didn't like the sound of that one. The oxford one sounds really good, but i think they would require a really high GPA, so i didn't apply for it. The LSE is focused more on contemporary politics, the SAS one you can choose but i get the sense that it is more focused on history.
My funding: the bank of mum and dad :frown:
