About relationships with another race

When you first talk with/get approached by people of another race, say in clubs and bars but also anywhere there's a chance of a relationship developing, do you ever think "Oh no, an immigrant is trying to chat me up. What have I done t deserve this?"

Obviously this applies to white people more so, probably because of their self righteousness and belief that all etnic minorities are low lives. It's just that when I read stuff like this (yes, from the daily mail, but nonetheless an opinion that seems set in stone):

We all know that the government has lied. Wait until this surge of immigrants and their children - yes there will be lots of them - start to work their way into the system. How will this government fiddle the figures then?

- Jodie Thompson, Cardiff

I get seriously depressed that a lot have this mentality, and worry for my future and whether I'll ever be a dad or not. Yes, I'm the son of immigrants - the very "scum" that dear Jodie has a thing against, but why class it as a "surge" - like it's some sort of disease?

The reason this is in H&R is because I need to know if rejections (not only in clubs and stuff, but also when people are unwilling to accept you as part of a group because of the above) are based purely on that assumption?

Technically, thats also racism.

But anyway, I dont think the majority of people really judge that much based on race, if someone isnt attracted to someone, its not just usually their race, it can be anything. Some people simply dont find some races attractive, that just happens, the same is true with body types/sense of humour etc.

I have also not known anyone I know to reject anyone simply because they thought they were an immigrant, I have known people to reject people who were cocky, rude or what they considered 'ugly', but not race.

Really? Well, **** you too.

It depends. I try not to judge people, but i have no problem with saying I dont find black girls attractive. They generally just are not my type, and I dont think thats racist to say so.

Race for me is a factor in if I find someone attractive. Not always in a negative way, I find Oriental women very attractive.

I very much doubt the fact you are from another country would put them off, if they didnt like you looks wise. More than likely you can make a talking point of it.

No "technically" about it, it's blatant racism. It's always amazed me how quickly the slightest thing can be branded as racism these days, yet absolutely NOTHING directed at white people qualifies.

Bull****.
Why on earth did you put "scum" in quotation marks when you're not quoting anybody?

And I'm going to go ahead and presume you're mentally challenged if you believe Jodie from Cardiff is the official spokesperson of Britain.

I believe "Obviously this applies to white people more so, probably because of their self righteousness and belief that all ethnic minorities are low lives" is a quote not the original posters opinion.

Besides alot of tabloid press is very anti immigration and fairly racist.
I dont think that was a quote seeing as after it he/she put, 'when I see read stuff like this...'.

Yes, but it's a satirical dig at a very present issue.

For example, a white person has to be careful about even acknowledging the fact that someone else is black, whereas a black person can use terms such as "white boy" and even "cracker" without so much as a second look.

I've seen groups on Facebook for "Asian Students of x". I considered starting one called "White Students of x" just to see how long it'd be before I was banned.

I made my point badly. I think that line is in reference to the quote from Cardiff below it.

I could be wrong though.

Anyway who cares, we know not only white people can be racist (don't believe me? Go to China and go to a place of interest. There are signs that say 'Locals $3. Foreigners $10), that's not really the point of this post.

That would be because they're a minority. If you go to South Africa for example and set up "For english students" no one will care because you would probably want to meet people from the same place as you. It's hardly the same thing to compare skin colour to country of origin.

And the OP should stop being a hypocrite.
Grr, I hate it when people are always on the lookout to be "counter-racists" when they see something that is aimed specifically at white people and can't see why. May as well explain to you nitwits before you accuse me of more racism: it applies to white people mainly because you are the majority. The views of other races in the country isn't what I'm looking for because the very question is about them. For example, you won't hear the viewpoint of a british asian saying "Hmmm I won't date a british black person because I think they're immigrant scum" do you?

Now, talk about the question only.

Oh and in response to the final question of the OP, perhaps they just don't find people of a certain race attractive?

And no, before anyone pipes up, that's not racist. At all. For example, I generally don't find black girls attractive. That's no more discriminatory than not finding ugly girls attractive. Doesn't mean I'm racist.

I did reply to your question in my first post. However generally (and this goes for any race), people do not like to be insulted on mass on a public student forum.

Don't know about you, but if my children are being referred to as a "surge", especially in that context, then it certainly goes with the assumption that she thinks we're low life scum.

And again people, stop with the personal insults. People who don't say their views in public doesn't mean they don't think them. Our very own Jodie can be a nice upstanding citizen who rejects ethnic minorities in nightclubs politely whilst muttering under her breath. That's why I want to know if others feel the same.

Are you going to apologise for that unwarranted slur, or not?

OP has proven themself a complete idiot.

Look: Nobody is going to take your anti-racist comments seriously when you yourself are a blatant racist.

I see no reason for condescending to assuage your curiosity when your original post implies that you are every bit as bigoted as the rabid-xenophobic minority whom you decry.

Perhaps I shall infer, reciprocally, that you are both incapable of altering your perspective and of practising even the most basic reason or decorum; that you are precisely the sort of reactionary that will think nothing of instructing your (would-be) children from an early age to mistrust (by default) anyone 'white'. Perhaps, concurrently, I might deliberate that my time can be occupied more fruitfully elsewhere than in any (inevitably futile) attempt to educate such a person.
Moderators: can you get rid of the "what is racism, blah blah" stuff here? It's not helping at all.

Fair enough, though I'm not really aiming at those who find certain races attractive or not, because of facial features etc etc.

More for those people who won't interact with others, solely because they think they are immigrant leechers based on appearance?
