They're pretty strict with regulations, especially peculiar liquids like that in a gel bra. I just wouldn't risk it - wear a normal bra!

I didnt have any problems with mine - then again i dont think its too normal for the security staff to ask you to remove your bra to see if it contains gel :p:

Thats what i was thinking lol, how would they ever find out??
i see it now... new security scare at Heathrow airport... woman with gel bra!!

i don't think there is enough gel in a gel bra to be considered an issue with the new regulations as only 100ml is allowed to be taken through security checks, and i'm not entirely sure but i wouldn't have thought that there would be more than 100ml of gel in a bra!

although i'd suggest playing it safe and not wearing a gel bra! although i really don't think they will pick up on it. unless you actually ask them.

i was wondering the same thing!
They aren't going to check
I wondered this too but about your bra wires making the metal detectors going off! :p: I guess the amount of metal is too small though. :p:

i wore mine last week. didnt have a problem, didnt even think about it at the time. if u wear it itll be okay but if u put it in your hand luggage it might. coz they scan it.

if u do take liquids through they have to be in containers less than 100ml and in a re-sealable plastic bag.
I was worried about them bursting with the pressure or something...
I think i was being a bit daft

it gets worse on here by the day...

They won't be able to tell and if they do slap them with a sexual harrasment case because they're obviously looking too hard :P

personally i won't have thought it be a problem, i find its best to keep ur mouth shut when going through airport security!

also if your taking a laptop with you or something like an MP3 player with a hard disk, dont forget to declare you have it or you get into lots of trouble, i found that one out the hard way

also not really relevant but clear me up if i am wrong  I think it is now illegal to say the word "bomb" in an airport!!! and if you say bomb on a plane in america you are removed from the flight!

I know you're just kidding, but it really does annoy me when people are silly about these rules. I'm not aiming this at you directly, but at anyone wandering into this thread and thinking "Heh, I'll just wear my gel bra anyway, I don't care whether it might be against the rules!":

At the end of the day, the rules are there to keep you safe, and there's no real reason why you should need very much in the cabin with you - particularly not a gel bra. It's a matter of courtesy just to follow the rules and make their job - which is to keep you safe - a little bit easier.

Would you rather them be vigilant and spot anything that may be against the regulations, or would you prefer them to just let anybody through who may in fact be a very clever terrorist/whatever, hiding stuff in an apparently innocent bra?

This thread made me laugh but when you think about it, it could be a genuinely "good" way to take things on board to cause problems.

You do realise that it is basically impossible to blow up a plane with a liquid explosive? You would need about a tonne of the stuff - it's a very outdated form of explosive. The whole security thing on liquids is just a "restoring public confidence" stunt.

Who said it had to be an explosive? They could easily decide to poison the crew instead so that they could take over. The point is not whether or not you think it's possible, but the fact that there's no reason to take such a risk.

Lol, this thread made me chuckle! I thought at first the OP might be worrying about the gel bursting due to the pressue in the cabin  but gel bras banned for security?! Er, no. For one, nobody would know you were wearing a gel bra! They're not gonna ask you to whip your top off and have a feel of your bra to see if it's got gel in it!

Sadly you are very wrong. There are masses of gels, liquids, fine solids and other types of materials that you could do serious damage with, even with the small amount hidden in a bra. It also happens that my employer tests explosives for terrorist cases in the UK as we have a unique testing site for such things and are quite famous for it; so I know a little bit about it  The BBC has a 'taster' article on it:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4780391.stm

At 30,000 ft and cruising speed, it doesn't take a lot to knock a plane out of the air, be it a crude small explosive through to a hand luggage bomb to some form of liquid/gas for poisoning.

It highlights an issue that loopymeg was getting at; few people would consider even looking at that area of a woman (for various and many good reasons). For that reason, it's a threat that I guess has been pretty much ignored so far.
