holiday with bf and his ex

so my bf and i decided a few months ago that we would go on holiday at the end of august, after our summer jobs and before uni. initially it was going to be just us, then somehow it became a group of us going. for various reasons this fell apart and it was back to being just us. we both tried to find other people to go away with, i suggested his ex and her bf (who we get on very well with) and my bf replied "no way, absolutely not, would be too awkward with my ex girlfriend". So for a few weeks it was definite that just the two of us would go, i thought great, romantic, lovely.
Last night we were at a party and my bf and the ex gf's-bf decided drunkenly that we would all go away, i couldnt say no to their faces but actually am really nervous of going away with them due to the immediate " no way" reaction of my bf. Now, sober, arrangements are being made to book the hol.He is claiming that this reaction was only in relation to me...ie that he thought i would find it awkward.
any ideas? am i being stupid or would it be unwise to go away with them?

*prob worth mentioning that we have been together 2 yrs and are v happy, i dont think he still loves his ex or anything am just a little worried!

Well, if his ex brings her bf then that should even it up a little bit so its not just u three. plus, i dnt know what type of holiday it is, but u cud end up havin such a fun time u wont care and there wont be time for awkwardness

Since it’ll be you, your boyfriend, your boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, and her current boyfriend, I don’t really think you’ll have a problem – either that, or there’ll be problems all-round.

initially i did want to go, until he told me he thought it would be awkward.
the tye of hol is a chill out on the beach, bit of sports, that kind of thing.
