I got an A overall in Maths AS but my mechanics unit is a C. Does that affect anything or is the overall grade the most important one?

Your overall grade is what's truly essential. If you repeat the same performance next year, you will still have an A in A-level Maths

It depends on the numbers. As long as you have 480/600 UMS you will have an A.

The grade is the most important, but the applied module grade can be helpful in choosing which module to go for in A2 if you have a choice (EG mechanics being a weak area s1 (or d1) may be better than m2

So basically it doesn't matter if you get an A in C12 and in M1 or you get A in C12 only. As long as you're getting an A overall it's fine.

That's totally fine! You're in the exact same position to getting an A* in maths as someone who achieved 300/300 UMS, you just need to average 90 UMS or higher in C3 and C4 next year with at least 480 UMS overall.
