URGENT = Debenhams' Returns Policy

I bought some boots from Debenhams a couple of weeks ago which were reduced from £50 to £20. However, when i got home, i realised i couldn't do the zip up if i tucked my jeans into them so now I want to return them. I know id only be able to get gift vouchers back because they were reduced by more than 50% but it's actually gone past the 28days limit so would they still give me gift vouchers in exchange?

Doubt it.
dammit, debenhams seems so strict with their returns policy. what's worse is that i saw some boots yesterday which fit perfectly and are incredibly comfortable and only £15, but id feel so guilty buying another pair because then id never wear the original pair

I'd buy the new ones n sell the old ones on ebay!

i got done over with the returns policy cos it was less than 50% but htey didnt tell me n they said it was on the receipt..u only get the receipt after u buy it !! had 2 stick with a gift card thing
they're faith boots and were originaly £50 so how much do you think i couuld get for them on ebay. they're just below knee length, size 5, plain black.

also, do other people find boots really uncomfortable when your jeans are tucked into them. is there some sort of way to make it more comfortable?

I don't tuck jeans into boots, as i think it looks horrible.

If you don't want to hang onto them, then flog them on ebay. Don't expect to get £50 though, you'll probably get £20 ish.

If you hang onto them then you can wear them one day when the fashion is not to wear them over jeans.
it's really uncomfortable wearing boots under jeans though cos they like hang over the boots. do you reckon id actually be able to get £20 on ebay for them? ill see if i can find a pic of them on the faith or debenhams website

If you do want to sell them on ebay, i'd hang on until the winter - more people will be after boots then and you'll prob get a better price.

Also, if you wait a while then some people may be so desperate to get their hands on those particular boots that you might get a nice price for them

You can always try, you never know. They have no obligation to though, they might just give you an exchange for something else rather than gift vouchers

In relation to tucking jeans in and making it more comfy I normally wrap the excess material round my leg so that it lies flat and put my sock over this before putting my foot in the boot. I know it doesn't look very sexy but it stops crumpling and noone will see your socks once the boots are on.
For the record, whilst shops can _say_ that they don't give refunds for sale items, the law says they have to.

Though after 28 days you're entitled to nothing.
If they're faulty you are entitled to a full refund!

(The 28 day limit is not relevant, goods should be usable and function as expected/shown instore within a 'reasonable period')
'IF' then...

If not then ...

No it doesn't. The only legal obligation is to exchange or refund a faulty item that was bought by a customer not made aware of the fault. Despite it being part of most shops' exchange policy, businesses are under no legal obligation to refund an item for any other reason, sale or otherwise.

The 28 day thing has nothing to do with the law either, again it's a company policy thing.

i work for debenhams too and they would only give you an exchange. you could ask for the money to be retrned onto a gift card but you could only spend the money in the store. xx
