I am 21 and am looking to socialise more. I have lost touch with all my school friends and don't really go out due to having no friends. I've looked at doing evening courses at my local college but they are expensive, I've looked into going to a class (reading, knitting, karate, swimming) but I don't really have any interest in these. I've looked into volunteering but there is nothing in my area. What can I do to meet people my age? Thanks for your help

Volunteering would be very good even if its not around your area. Also, I am not sure if you do work but sometimes people make some very good friends at work. On top of that... what do you enjoy to do in general?

Yeah I guess, what would you suggest I volunteer in to meet people my age?, cinema, going for a drink, shopping, going for a drive. I don't think I can volunteer in some of those though, maybe I'll become a taxi driver

Maybe look into getting a part time job in a cinema. Or just do some research about volunteering. I am not sure of any websites but I have heard about websites where you can find volunteering work.

How about joining a local group or something that is free. I go running and there are LOADS of things, such as clubs, and park runs where you can meet people. If you dont like running there are loads just have a look at clubs, they are not that expensive. Although I am younger so cant do this how about going out drinking or just chatting to as many people as you can? sorry if this isnt much help but its an idea?? Also do you work if so speak to your colleagues and make friends with them thats what I have done and I have made some alright friends this way. What about video games??

Hi Jack, thanks for your reply, I'm quite a shy person so going and speaking to as many people as I can is something I struggle with but I am going to look at local groups in my area. I work within a small company where I'm the only girl and there are 2 other guys I work with, one of which is my ex 🙈 and the other guy is a few years younger than me. No thanks for your help, it's good to hear other people's opinion, maybe you might come up with something I haven't.
