Why wont my acne dissappear???!!!

Hek i might have a lot to say right here but theres so many thing on my mind, well iv just turned 18 and have had mild - moderate acne since just after turning 16.

Ever since i have been trying everything to get rid of this burden, but i refused at first to use any acne treatments (benzoyl peroxide or oral antibiotics) after everything i'd read about them on the internet. I went completely organic, using only organic facewashes and moisturisers, i just guess im a sucker for over exaggerated articles on the internet, i'v been through so many, and only god knows how much money i have spent, i estimate into a few hundreds!!! I feel acne has definitely changed my personality, maybe in a negative way, i almost feel like i will only get my life back when my acne completely has gone away!! Over the last two years my acne has fluctuated somewhat, and i'd say over the last year i have not had a single day of clear, or even close to clear skin.

But just recently i gave into the temptations of medication and went to see the doctor, i explained my situation to him, although he hardly seemed concerned, he just took one look and prescribed me some oral antibiotics and a topical lotion. (that was the shortest consultation iv ever had with a doctor, he hardly seemed to take me seriously)

I'v now been using Sebomin MR 100mg anitbiotics and Duac Once Daily Gel for around 7 weeks now and have seen a real improvement, i hardly get many spots, and the ones i do get seem to fade away more quickly.

Now looking over this post it seems really pointless and like a whole load of nonsense, i guess what i really wanted to know from any acne sufferers out there is how long do you reckon my acne would last and also how long do you think i should take the antibiotcs, combined with the cream???

(If your still awake after that, I Thank You Endlessly for Reading my Post)!!!

I'd say try it for a month or two and see if there are any side effects. If there are, then I'd ask about the possiblity of seeign a dermatologist.

However, after having been tortured by dermatologist Tony Chu for about 4-5 years (The prick whose sperm made me is ultra paranoid about acne as he has family that scarred from it.... pathetic), I've come off Tetralysal capsules and Isotrexin and Eryacne gel, I use the Murad rrange of facial washes.

It's not prescription medicine, but it does cost £25 for a Travel pack (100ml of cleanser, about 25-50ml exfoliating gel anfd 5ml blemish treatment).

However, I'd highly recommend it.

Two years? You've suffered with it for TWO YEARS? Boo hoo. Try 10.

Like you I've tried virtually every sort of medication on the market and they haven't worked, my skin's not deemed severe enough for Roaccutane, and yet it still makes me miserable with the number of people who comment on the state of my arms, chest and shoulders each day (not so much my face now, thank God).

So as for your question, how long's a piece of string?

Have you tried Murad? It's very expensive, but my GOd does it work like a treat (as long as you use it every day)!

Does anyone else get spots on their legs too as well as on their face?

I've suffered from acne for about 6 years now and I hate it so much! Not only do ppl bully me and be mean to me because of it, but it's also shredded away at my self-esteem and sometimes has me too miserable and scared to leave the house. (Have other reasons for not feeling like going out sometimes and feeling miserable too though :frown: ). I eat so healthily, don't smoke, don't take drugs, don't drink, don't plaster myself in make-up, get all my vitamins and minerals and nutrition each day and daily cleanse with special washes and lotions too but I still have it.:mad; I don't wear foundation because it's not my style, is bad for the skin and doesn't cover my red volcanic mountain range on my face anyway! Grrr! I think it's something to do with my hormone levels and stress though so maybe that could be the underlying causes for you too. I want for all the acne to go away so that I can be happier and more confident and healthier and for less meaness too.:frown: What's more, my mother says that I have a beautiful shaped face and facial features, but not the condition of the skin covering it.:frown:

^^ I tried the exact same kit you mentioned, actually (£25 starter kit from Boots, no?). Unfortunately for me, it worked excellently for the first month and then its effects kind of levelled out :frown: Shame, because had it carried on working at the same level of effectiveness, I'd be singing its praises now. I'll finish off what I've got but I won't be buying any more. I find the Clinique 3-Step Anti Blemish works better, but I've only been using it for a week so far, so we'll see. Plus, the Clinique is very expensive, so whether I'll be able to carry on using it remains to be seen...I have some Dermalogica lined up for testing after this (yes, I am a total sucker...I dread to think how much time I've spent in the doctor's surgery and how much money I've spent on prescriptions and commercial treatments over these 10 years...).

Anon 2, I feel the same as you :hugs: I don't like having my photo taken because of it.

CRAP! That is indeed the kit you mentioned. How depressing is that?! I would try Dermalogica, but Murad's still OK for me atm... plus I'm in dire straits atm. Think I want a facial scrubbing brush, though.

I don't like having my photo taken either. On trips and holidays etc, I freak out when I see a camera or a camera flash and tell the person with the camera not to get me, not me.:frown: As a result I don't have that many photos of me: the one's I do have I feel sad about and for the lack of photos I do have, I feel sad about not having more showing me happier and healthier.:frown:

Tea Tree and Witch Hazel products have started working some times for me but very slowly. And I always find that when you try out deep cleansing products on your face, your face looks worse after it because of the blood in your skin being invigorated as well as the pores so that it looks worse. Once I tried this prescription medicated acne treatment, will find the name of it for anyone here if they want in a min, and it made my skin all look like and feel like rough and scaly dragon's skin.:frown: But I tried out this stuff because I thought that I might look worse for a while but it'll only be a short while because after using it alot and with all my other healthy factors, I'll have the result of the long-term benefit of having clear and healthy skin. Except it's still here now after 6 years.

Best tell us the name of it so we can avoid it...

loser88: I don't think you're really on the same par here, seeing as you say in your thread that it's only got really bad since you started uni and that you had no spots at all in the sixth form...

Ive had mine since I was 11 :/ Starting to get better on my face, but now I have it on my lower back gah.

Two years? Try six. Admittedly, mine has never been as severe as some; but the pallour of my complexion compounds it to no small extent.

In fairness, though, her acne sounds at least as debilitating as any I've yet encountered.

Out of interest; are you satisfying the R.D.A. for vitamin C?

That happens to me with every acne product. They always seem to work great the first couple of times and then after that they have almost no effect.

Theoretically, yes; only roaccutane will fundamentally alter your biology such as to effectively 'cure' acne.

Yep, I have one of those little orange tubs from Boots where you take one a day. Plus I'm quite a fan of oranges and orange juice too.

Profesh, you don't play Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter films, do you?

Well, that was perhaps a missed opportunity.

i used sebomin MR like you and i use a cream thing thats almost like yours, just different name lolz. my acne was a huge improvement just like yours is, i was so happy! when i read your title of your post i was about 2 tell you 2 go on sebomin till i read your post lolz. i took the tablets for 6 months and cream and they had all gone then 4 months later they started to reappear so i went on it for another 6 months, still all the time using the cream every day.then i came off the tablets about 8 or 9 months ago and my skin is so much better. i still use the cream though by the way, it just keeps the spots away instead of having to use the antibiotics all the time.i do still get a few spots but the are no where near as bad as they were.my skin isnt as good as it was when i was on sebomin(totally clear) i just have a few spots here and there but they are definitely not out of control. so i suggest you use the tablets in 6 month doses until you feel confident enough that you don't really need them any more  good luck and i'm glad that something i had success in is a success for other people aswell!
