I was listening to Katie Hopkins on LBC this morning & she mentioned that in 2010, 110,000 exam papers were re-marked, in 2014 it was 414,000!

This article shows about 1 in 7 got re-graded. (If anyone has better stats about re-grading please advise).

Does it just tell you that £40 is a small price to pay for the chance of getting a better grade?

I wouldn't say it's a small price but too many people seem to be under the impression that yes remark will change their grade so grasp the opportunity

It tells me that every paper should be graded twice and that should be final so that people who cannot afford to pay to have their papers re-marked are not unfairly disadvantaged.

Alas, even exams are about money to those who run it and time is money

But you are completely right, especially since the grades are so life changing they should be done precisely!
