I want to apply for Maths and Econ at LSE, but I want to apply for degrees such as 'maths with management and finance' at KCL for example. If I wrote a personal statement aimed at getting a maths and economics place, do you think it would significantly reduce my chances of getting offers for degrees such as the aforementioned one?

    Thanks in advance

Check the university websites for your other 4 choices. LSE place a lot of emphasis on the PS - other universities (especially for Maths related courses) are less likely to be concerned....but you must CHECK (ring them up if you're unsure).

Compare http://university.which.co.uk/london...ears-8500-gl11 (1.5 of applicants get an offer) to http://university.which.co.uk/kings-...ears-9000-g1n2 7/10 applicants get an offer and you can see the difference in the application process for different courses. LSE will reject most applicants because they can, KCL will make offers to most applicants because they know a lot will chose to go elsewhere or wont meet their offer conditions.
