So im starting university in central london in less than 2 weeks and I cannot afford the deposit for my clearing accomodation. My uni doesnt have any accomodation so i've been calling privately but noone is taking me for accomodation without paying the deposit and paying the rent until my first installment which is on the 26th of September (I get the full £10K student finance entitlement).

What should i do? I'm really stuck at the moment.

What they said above you should be focusing on two things.

1. Talking to your uni and seeking some arrangement about delayed payment i.e instalments or see if they will wait till your money arrives. If they dont have any uni accomm, then still asked to be put on the waiting list as some people may be no shows, soemtimes they have temp accomm. Find out what resources they have. You could also look at soemthing like spare room just to get a temp place to stay till soemthing else crops up.
2. Trying to find money from other sources, the obvious one being the student overdraft, which should cover it until your loan money arrives.

If its private and its London, then its a whole lot more difficult. Look at the uni accomm boards and they might have house shares that have a spare and the LL might be willing to wait. Hang in there.

open a student bank account and use the overdraft. If it isn't university owned accomodation then I can't see a landlord waving a deposit.

no one will allow you to move in without paying a months rent and a deposit as a minimum - try and borrow the money from anywhere you can, you can always pay it back the second your finance comes through

Hello

First and foremost, contact the university and see what they suggest, universities often have housing contacts that they use to suggest to students when their accommodation is filled up.

If not, have you looked at opening a Student Bank Account? This way you can get an overdraft that will help you pay for this amount.

Best of luck
