Hi, I'll keep it short and simple: I failed my A2 exams and got BDEE. Now, if I were to retake the year, I would almost certainly get better grades and then go off to a better uni. However, I'm under a lot of pressure right now; all of my family wants me to go to uni this year however bad and unprestigious the uni may be. I personally believe that it's not worth getting £40k in debt just to say "I've got a degree" when most employers might then ask you "where?". If they've never even heard of the place then that'd give the employer another reason not to employ you. Another reason why I'm still considering clearing is because a lot of my friends got similar grades to me and are still going to Uni.

Thanks and I hope you guys did better than me

i think you should try the clearing and maybe you will get into a uni you like. If this isn't the case, you could retake the year and Im sure you will get better grades.
    Good luck!

I would not listen to your family if you don't agree with them as you will later on regret it. If you're sure you will do better if you re-take this year then I would say go for it, it will be worth it in the end! There's no point in going to a bad uni, as you said it will be a waste of money. All you have to do now is ensure you will boost up your grades!

If you feel you can do better a second time around and have goals in mind that you want to achieve before heading to a better university then I think you should. At the end of the day your family don't have to do your degree, you do. I kind of regret not resitting the year/a few exams and heading to University later on when I felt more prepared, excited and really wanted to go to the University I'd chosen as opposed to got through clearing. What are the cons of waiting a year other than maybe feeling a little left out when your friends leave in comparison to the pros?

Just focus on yourself, **** what your friends and family think. If you want my opinion, the most ideal option would be to re-do A-level exams to boost your grades and go into a better uni that you'll be happy with.

Regardless of your grades, do you feel like going to uni and do you feel like you would do better? If yes, then go for it.

If you are unsure, you can take a year out to think about it and consider alternatives.
