Is my Maths UMS good enough for Durham (and also possibly Cambridge)

Oops, I only read the top half of the quote in your post. And Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick, Bristol, Durham. I don't know if Durham is necessarily 6th best, but I didn't fancy UCL, Manchester, Southampton or Scottish universities.

Ah I see... some good choices there
I'm applying this year for CompSci at:
Oxford (pls dont hate xD), Imperial, Durham, Warwick, Bristol/UCL
No idea how I'll afford Imperial tbh but I'll see how things work out.
I just need to smash my A-level year!

I wouldn't have got an A* if not for my maths teacher - who went to Durham. But like Durham is a top Uni that I want to apply to
Ah good on you. Do you think you will be prepared for their own admissions test. Apparently it's harder than STEP!

Only M2 is A2

There is no way you can get an A* rn because FP1 is counted as AS

Are you in wales?
The choice of units is irregular
Usually its 2 core with applied

Sorry - I'm still confused - I'll do some research

Right so you'll be doing C3 and C4 next year? Exam board?

Just saying those are completely regular modules for AS Maths and Further Maths... I don't get what you're so confused about? E.g. my modules are AS Maths C1 C2 S1; AS Further Maths FP1 M1 S2. which is the same except S swapped with M.

You're totally joking right? Their new admissions test is very far from even being close to STEP, it's much easier.

Oh my apology. Honest mistake , I thought that a poster on a STEP thread said that Durham's Admissions Test was harder. Guess that information was false.

Could you give me your opinion on Manchester?

For Maths or Computer Science? I don't know too much about either, I just ignored it because it's too close to my home city, but I think in general Manchester is very well regarded international, and somewhat underestimated nationally. In general, it's definitely up there with the "top generic Russell Groups" (Bristol, UCL, Edinburgh etc.). It's especially good for Physics.

Thanks! What are you applying for?

You don't actually need to do Durham's entrance test right? I read somewhere as long as you do MAT they don't actually care and all it does is reduce your offer or something.

How do we tell Durham our maths UMS? Do we put it in our personal statement?

There's an option to input UMS in your UCAS application iirc

Is this UMS good enough for Cambridge Maths?

C1 - 93
C2 - 100
FP1 - 99
S1 - 99
D1 - 96
M1 - 100
M2 - 97
M3 - 93
M4 - 66 (Had a blank in exam)

Also, would the M4 count against me?

So this is additional further maths?

Thats a lot of applied units 🙀

Overall it could effect your average however not alot of people do M4 so why should they even consider it???
