If you live on campus expect your first day to be a bit chaotic, moving stuff into halls, food shopping, meeting your flatmates. On the first night it's worth suggesting your flat go to the union bar to get to know each other and meet other students. Your uni will probably hold a freshers week so you'll have evening events to go to if you want.

You'll probably need to enroll on your course, you'll have enrollment events including initial lectures, tours of facilities etc. It depends on your course, some start teaching in the first week, others give you the first week to attend timetabled events and find your feet. It's probably a good idea to explore your campus, make sure you check out the library etc, and set up your wifi!

After the first week you'll settle more into a routine with your time table/assigned readings (if applicable) and assignments

Just keep an open mind and don't write anyone off based on your first impression of them

Don't panic. My first week (freshers) was great for the most part, meeting new people and it allows just works out. No one in your flat knows anyone so they focus on getting to know you and you go to events together.

Induction week was the worst time I had, going to the first lecture not knowing anyone and not having a chance to get to know anyone. Once we did some initial activities I got to know a few people on the course, who I felt I could chat to and we sort of just chatted to more people together on the course and by the third week I was settled in and had 5 really good course mates. I never really socialised with my flatmates (very little in common to be honest) and just stayed out of the flat most of the time with people on my course instead.

Go with the flow, somone asks to if you want to go somewhere (as long as it's safe and all that jazz) take them up on the offer. Basically if you're prone to social anxiety/awkwardness then just say yes. Go with it, Uni is great once you settle in. Anything you want to know please ask.

    Hello

The first couple of days are going to be busy, it's going to be a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings - embrace it! Just fully embrace the student life and try to explore your comfort zone and maybe even push yourself a little bit.

Be social, make friends, take photos and make memories and most of all, just enjoy yourself!

    Good luck
