I want to apply for a job at Tesco called "Customer Assistant - Stock Control" however I'm just wondering if I'll have to be doing any till work. The job description isn't very specific. Anyone else apply for this job or know if I'll have to be on the counter?

I have worked as a stock controller in tesco for 4 years and there are various jobs within the stock control department. My primary job is to scan products (usually fresh products) on to job14 i.e. if today is the 1st of September I will reduce products that expire on the 2nd of September as these will be further reduced on the 2nd of September. Other jobs within stock control include gap scan which involves scanning products that are not on the shelve to be ordered, counts which involves counting products so that we know how much is in stock, and osi which is our overstock investigations. If you are successful in obtaining this job, they will arrange for you to have checkout training. However, usually you are not required to go on checkouts as a stock controller unless you are doing overtime on checkouts. This a good job if you want extra money and the working hours are decent & flexible.

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
