    Hi guys,

I've only ever shaved my vagina before but I'm finding it increasingly tiresome and am thinking of going to get waxed. All the advice on how to prepare for a week says you should refrain from shaving for 3-4 weeks so the hair is long enough to be waxed. Is that really necessary? I'm pretty sure I'd have a full on bush by then! And it wouldn't be particularly nice for my boyfriend. What do you do about this?

Yes you need a little length there as it makes the waxing easier, you will get a better result and its less painful. After a few wax cycles you will notice yourre- growth is thinner and gaps between waxing will increase.

don't make your decision based on what your bf thinks, as long as you are clean, do what you want to do

If you want to get it waxed then do it - it's your body who gives a sh*t about what your boyfriend thinks is "nice".
I personally wouldn't get a full Hollywood (or even a Brazilian) because of three reasons:
    1. The pain. I've had a bikini wax (just the sides so you see no pubes in a swimsuit) and that was very painful (even though I used hot wax - I will explain later). Any higher than that will be insanely painful.
    2. The cost. A full Hollywood in a decent place with a fully qualified beautician costs upwards of £40 - add in the marginally less painful hot wax and that goes up even further.
    3. The risk of a infections and ingrown hairs. If it's your first time getting waxed down there (and you've only shaved before) then you may have ingrown hairs which makes it even more painful. Also you may get spots as its completely bare and the point of pubic hair is to stop bacteria from reaching that region. This can also make you more susceptible to stds like herpes. At the very least you will be very itchy and rashy after the wax for about 2-3 days.
