A2 English Coursework - The Secret History and Girlfriend in a Coma

I told my teacher I wanted to do Tartt's the Secret History because its on of my most favourite novels, but reading the complimentary novel Girlfriend in a Coma made me stuck for common themes to write about. If anyone has done either could they help me out?

So far, I got the fact that both are about a group of young friends, and both have first person narratives.
Well to be honest, I wouldn't necessarily do Girlfriend in a coma.

If I was you I would look at the presentation of 'history' in The Secret History and say something like The English Patient for example.

My teacher said that it 'traditionally' goes with the Secret History so I was sorta forced to. I don't really want to do it either after reading Girlfriend in a Coma. What other books go with the Secret History?

ermm, help would be appreciated.
The English Patient, Fugitive Pieces...

Trust me - look at the nature of history or something like that.

The movie turned me off the book. What other books can it go with?

I might as well do Catch-22, what does it go with besides Captain Corelli?
