I don't understand my ex...

Heya!

Right, me and my boyfriend broke up in June, just for over the Summer...and we both agreed to this.

I remember my ex saying that he still wanted to be friends over the Summer and still wanted to keep in contact over Summer. Pretty easy to understand...or so i thought.

My ex went on holiday a few weeks ago. The day before he went away, I sent him a text wishing him a good holiday. I send this type of message to any of my friends who I know are going on holiday. Anyway, I didnt get a response from him.

He got back off hol a few days ago, and I sent him a message asking if he had a good time...once again no response.

It's not like im bombarding him with texts. Ive sent him 2 over the last month.

I just don't understand why he hasnt responded considering that he said he still wanted to stay friends and stay in contact.

Can anyone explain his thinking...because im clueless!

Thanks!

It does seem like he was just saying "let's be friends". Guys a jerk.
Dont worry about it, he is your ex after all.
If he's not replying to your texts, then he's a jerk like JayB124 said...just count yourself lucky that you're rid of him, stop texting him and move on.

Sadly I think you have been duped, people like him say lets have a break for the summer and promise to get back afterwards, rarely do. He probably broke up with you so he could play the field, so basically he's having his cake and eating it.
THis is such a horrible situation. I'm so sorry but he is 'having his cake and eating it' like posted above.

You've got two options:

1) keep texting, and hope he'll come round. Then when he does you'll inevitably be cross as to why he messed you around. He'll get all defens=ive and make you feel bad for being clingy.

2) you take all the guts and self respect you can muster and push him out of your head. You're not int he wrong, and as I'm sure loads of TSR members will agree, once you've broken up once, especially as a 'break', things almost never go back to being the same.

Don't let him hurt or confuse you anymore. We've all been there tho and we know it sucks :frown:

Give yourself a bit of time away and focus on somehing you wouldn't have done if you were together.

I personally wouldn't bother texting him no more, think he seems to have made it clear that he's mucking her around and is not going back to her. The OP deserves much better than him.
He's your ex. One way or another, he's your ex.

Enough said.

Either A> he hasnt any credit, or B> hes met someone else. Which is probably the reasoning for breaking up over summer, so he can sleep around.

Urgh! This is all too familiar for me. Stop texting him, eventually he'll probably text you, ironically with the same concerns.
If there's any chance of you bumping into him at one point, or you meet up (as friends obv), make sure you look amazing. I know it's a little typical, but it works.

Was he on pay-as-you-go? If so, could have ran out of credit.

don't keep texting him

Like others have said, might have broken up with you to try and play the field a bit (but kept you hanging just in case he didn't end up finding anyone better). He probably has found someone. It's a bit long to just ignore you. Then again, it was just two texts, why not something more serious? An email or a phonecall?

Hey again!
Thanks for your replies.
Well we broke up for summer as we were at uni together and he didn't like the thought of being in a long distance relationship.
Also, his mobile is on contract.

I think i'm not going to bother with him anymore with regards to contacting him. I genuinely thought he wanted to keep in contact over the Summer. When I go back to uni in Sept, that's when i'll see him again. If he still wants me (which was the original plan - to start seeing each other again - although he's doing a lot of assuming) he can do the chasing. But I will have a bit to say to him before i will consider going back out with him. I've been told by others I can do better...they are probs right.
Oh for god's sake guys can be so immature!! The same thing happened with me and my ex..except that he broke up with me, but two months later he went to zante and he came back a changed person!! He said that the holiday "opened his eyes" and claimed to have "slept with three girls" even though he has a willy the size of a pea and finds it difficult to have an erection!! Lol, not that u want to know any of this.. Sorry about the rant..

Anyway, back to the problem- in simple terms you're ex is a jerk like most other guys. I bet u he went on holiday and pulled one or two girls and came back thinking he was some sort of a babe magnet!! Him not contacting u tells u that he has moved on.. Well I guess its better than him leading u on!!

Forget about this loser and move on.. And if he tries to contact u again, then be firm. If he ever says that he wants u back, I would think he is using u as a re-bound so be careful.

Hope that helps

I think even saying "most" is a complete exaggeration, tbh.

Good on you! The fact is, you’ve sent him two text messages and he hasn’t bothered replying. To be honest, and I’m sorry to say it, but I don’t think he’ll be coming back to you in September – long distance relationship or not, you don’t break up with someone if you want to be with them.

It’s best to forget about him, really enjoy yourself over the holidays, and start looking for other guys.
How in the hell have people decided he's a jerk just because he failed to reply to 2 texts from his ex g/f?

I can't comprehend breaking up with someone for just over summer. If the effort of a long distance relationship isn't worth it, and you only want to be in a relationship when you can see each other in person surely there isn't any emotional or true feelings for each other, and the only reason you're together is for the physical pleasure?
So regardless of what your ex is up to, the fact that you agreed to the break anyway suggests to me that it's not really much of a big deal.
