So I'll be starting sixth form in a few weeks and I'm really worried about making new friends. Most of my friends are going to different colleges and others are taking different A-levels to me so I'll hardly see them. I'm really worried that I'll have no one and its making me dread going to sixth form. I have social anxiety so its difficult for me to speak to new people for fear of saying something stupid. Any ideas on how I can make new friends without worrying about people think of me?
    Thanks!

It's okay you'll make friends really quickly so long as you talk to loads of people and keep a friendly attitude to everyone!

Well technically you're not at 6th form to make friends so... but you'll do so anyways.

It may not be the primary purpose of education at all, but the consensus is that it is a VERY important part of the process of education.

OP: I'm in pretty much the same position as you. Perhaps the best advice that I can give you is to try to be friendly to everyone, and make yourself approachable. If you talk to lots of people, eventually you'll all organise yourselves into friendship groups.

Anxiety can be really annoying sometimes, but it is definitely something which you can overcome, and I can say with 99% certainty that you will make progress here Sixth Form.

Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it :hugs:

Here's how it happened for me, OP:

    >always been bad at making friends
    >only friend from secondary school goes to different sixth form
    >tell myself I'm gonna really try to be social and make friends
    >I try
    >I fail
    >make no friends
    >eat lunch alone everyday
    >going into A2 next month, still no friends
    >don't know why

    Good luck!
