How do you cope financially? My mum worries I won't be able to afford living in london if i choose to study there so is it as bad as she makes it out to be?

It depends where you are planning to live really. Im in the East and pay less in rent and food etc than I did in my hometown (Midlands) but it will obviously be more expensive than up north.

Also the amount of student finance makes a difference I get the minimum amount so that just covers rent, so i have to work. However my friends on the full amount don't often struggle.

However I wouldn't be able to afford to live anywhere in central

Ahh okay thank you. Where are you studying and how much do student discounts help? Are jobs easy to find?

How much are you getting loans wise if you don't mind me asking? Also make sure to check out if your uni is giving out any bursaries or scholarships and apply to them! London can be tricky but I would say food shopping is the same price, accommodation is pricier and nightlife is also more expensive than outside London.
Big tip from me would be though to make your own lunch, I wasted so much money last year buying lunches and dinners out

I haven't actually applied anywhere yet. I've only just finished AS levels and we are looking at universities to apply to and I'm keen on London. I expect things to be pricy but I dont know if getting a job too with a little bit of help from parents means I can get by
