How do I tell my mum about my boyfriend?

So I've been with this guy for about 6 months now and I've found it difficult to tell my mum about him. I'm a uni student so I met him whilst I was at uni (he's a local if that has any relevance) so it's not like he is local to me back at home. She does not make it easy to tell her things and will often retort with "this is my fault" or "you always blame me" when in honesty it kinda is. I feel so guilty at the fact that his ENTIRE family know about me but none of mine know about him. Can someone please help me find a way to tell my mum about him so I'm not sneaking behind her back
tell her on the phone if it would make it easier, tell her you've met a guy and his name and say she can meet him if she wants. Just do it quickly like ripping of a plaster, once you've told her it'll be like such a weight off your shoulders
