I was just wondering how much experience would be enough to apply for a PGCE. I know that you have to do 10 day minimum before starting but was just wandering how much before you start applying. I have done 5 days so far... not sure whether that would be enough?

    Thank you in advanced!

I'm afraid there isn't a helpful answer to this question. When I trained, there were a number of people from TA backgrounds with at least one year's worth of experience whereas I had just a couple of months' worth of experience. There were also a lot of people who were straight out of university and therefore had much less experience than I did. There are a number of variables that are taken into account when making these decisions and this means that experience is more important for some applicants than others e.g. people with third class degrees etc. It also depends on that overall pool of applicants. If you have 3 weeks of experience but the majority of other applicants have 8 weeks, your chances are somewhat weakened and vice versa. If you are a strong candidate, but your lack of experience is an issue, course providers can still offer you a place with the condition that you gain further experience before the start of the course.

Try to get as much experience as you can before applying and, if you are going to continue building your experience in the following months, make that clear in your application.

It depends on the course you're applying for and the university you want to go to. Although generally, the more, the better
