What is Kent/ Medway like? Nightlife?
Whats the nightlife, shopping, accommodation, people etc, distance to Canterbury like at the Medway campus?

I'm not sure what campus etc is like, however, i do know what medway is like in general as i lived there for a few years. It has been nicknamed 'brown town' because it has the highest rise in heroin use in England. I have to be honest i was very disappointed with all the medway towns, they all seem very rough with junkies and beggers everywhere.

To get from the Medway campus to Canterbury by car would take a minimum of 35 minutes, 45 mins minimum by train. I have friends that go to Uni of Medway though, and they love it. The towns are a bit chavvy but you get used to it - I work there.

Besides, I had my studenty life at Southampton University and I don't think it's that fun. Come on, bunch of kids who had never have independent before being over stimulated by first time in clubs...
As long there is a gym and a sports hall, with Wolfe/Merlin house with internet access, I'll be fine!

Medway isnt as bad as people make it out to be.... however there are lots of chavs everywhere you go. The night life is general good.
For rock and punk music tap n tin in chatham is the best place to go& Manner which is by tap n tin
For cheesy music upstairs in preach in gillingham and i think casinos in Rochester
For r&b and pop down stairs in preach, casinos & amo in strood.

All of those nightclubs are terrible!
Manor (not 'Manner'!) is a skanky hole full of underage kids who think they're cool because they're 14 and drinking spirits. I could get in there when I was in Year 11, and I was one of the oldest people there, I'd say! Tap n Tin is only slightly better. Preach is disgusting and full of chavs. Casinos and Amadeus (what this poster calls 'amo') are also chav huts, people get bottled up at amadeus.
The only good nightclub in Medway is Blues Rock Café by Priestfield. That's quite a quiet one though, more of a bar with a miniscule dancefloor. Quite a lot of underage people in there, but generally they're 17 compared to Manor's 14 year olds. You'd go there for a drink and a chat, and maybe a bit of a dance, but you can't really spend all night on the dancefloor because it's so small and crowded.
You'd be better off going further afield to Maidstone or London, to be honest. The nightlife in Medway is ****.

I'm not sure, I've never been clubbing in Canterbury. From what I've heard, it's better, but not amazing.
Medway is rubbish in general.
Tap is ok if you have a good band in there, but it's filled with underage goons, much like the rest of the 'club' scene. Don't go to Manor, Casinos, or Amadeus cos they're disgusting.
Best bet is a trip to Maidstone, who are not much better, but have at least a better quality. Or failing that, London.

Preach was quite good when I went.

honestly....rolling...on...the...hahahaha...floor....laughing...at this...thread...
The nightlife in Medway has a target audience of single mothers who have babies by usually 2-3 different men (head for Preach or Casinos). Chavs and wannabe hardmen who have the mental age of a 15 year old (head for Preach, Casinos or Amadeus) Anything sophisticated or to have a good time isn't here. I thought I'd come back and live with my parents for a while to save money and put a deposit down on a house as I'm only part time this year, the nightlife is so depressing I'm moving away and renting. Maidstone is supposed to be good but its a bitch to get to and from unless theres a lot of you.
