I am getting conflicting info on whether or not you can live in the halls for the entire 3 years of uni. I know halls are reserved for 1st years but does that mean 2nd and 3rd years can't get hall rooms? Just asking because I live in Northern Ireland and I want to go to scotland or england but I would feel better if I could live in student halls for all the years I am there.... My preferred uni's are Strathclyde and Edge HIll

Strathclyde offer accommodation after the first year, but they don't have enough for everyone. They estimate that only half of the returning students who apply for accommodation, will get it:

Edge Hill's accommodation web page says that they don't have enough space for all the first years who want it, so I would assume it's not an option in later years:

So no guarantees with Strathclyde and no chance with Edge Hill.

Edge Hill hold back a few rooms for 2nd and 3rd years but you have to have special circumstances to get them but accommodation is really limited any way. They're constantly building new accommodation but the uni is growing every year

why would you need to stay in halls? it's quite easy to find a shared flat or move into private halls, I wouldn't worry about it
