I could use some help - basically, I've changed my course from Philosophy to a combined of History & Philosophy, and I've got to write a new personal statement for it. I'm wondering if I'd have to start from scratch, or if I could just edit parts of my existing one (since I'm still going to be studying philosophy in the combined course)?

You could reuse bits from the old version but certainly give it a revamp to give it a good balance of the two subjects.
