I am afraid of the eternal oblivion and non - existence that follows death.
I believe there is no god, or soul, or ghosts or anything "supernatural" or "spiritual".
I believe that our consciousness is a result of our brain , chemical/electrical activities within our brain.
So when we die and our brain decomposes , and we become a skelwton and that's it , we are dead and we will never be conscious or experience anything forever.

And that's what scares me , that I will never experience or feel or see or hear anything or be conscious of anything for all eternity.
And what scares me is that , that state of eternal oblivion is eternal, meaning that it will never end.
Not in 900 trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion years. and what's that compared to eternity. not a drop in the ocean even.

It's inevitable, so why waste any of your time living worrying about it. I believe as we cease to exist you wont know you're dead anyway so why be bothered about it.

In my opinion, death is both a curse and a blessing. Sure, you are eternally obliviated, but the blessing is that death is inevitable! Now go with me on this, but this means that whatever path you take will always end the same way. If I tried a diet, for example, to loose weight and be more healthy, sure I'd live longer, but at the end of the day I'd die too, just like I would've if I didn't diet!

Okay, point is, death can't be prevented by ANYTHING. And looked at the right way, it gives a good excuse to live life the way you choose to, because at the end of the day, we all die no matter how much we try not to. And hey, when your time does eventually come (which is ages away, don't panic!), you will not be alone, because there would be so many others around the world going through the same.

So, in short, I see death as a blessing because it means you don't have to be a certain way to live eternally, you can live how you choose to! So make it all count in the long run, okay?

Focus on living for now ^.^
Death is something you can't control and there's no point in worrying about it - use that fear as motivation to spend every second on this earth fighting hard for what you believe in and enjoying every second you spend here.

    It really helped me.
(Oh and excuse the violence in it ^.^)
(it's about two people who know they're going to die within hours and how they decide to cope with that)

'never end' is a concept that is only achievable by thought. Not being conscious means it won't never end because you aren't capable of comprehending or perceiving time. As for your problem of consciousness, if as you say: consciousness is purely physical, then surely it can be recreated by physical processes and you can be 'brought back to life'. The issue here lies with the fact that the brain is the most complex physical structure in the known universe. Recreating it or bringing animals back to life (Assuming someone would attempt to do this) will only be achievable in the far future. It pretty much lies with the fact that this oblivion you speak of apparently existed before you were born and yet you became living.

A futurist or positivist could also argue that in the next few decades, science may allow biological immortality if mitosis can be made to exceed cell death.

    Hope this helps
