How old are you? If you're anywhere between about 13 and 19, it's perfectly normal. Some people get it, most don't, it'll probably go away, and no antibiotics you take will do anything permanent. Does it bother you that much? I get the same, and I think it's really nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be.

Ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist who should be able to prescribe you stronger medicines etc and hopefully it'll work out for you :hugs:

I have the same, I find the sun helps it a lot(when we get some that is) and in my experience no amount of washing/cleansing products work.

Getting some decent sun exposure may help, but it's looking unlikely this summer. You could try Brevoxyl cream from Boots, or distilled witch hazel from any pharmacy.

your doctor will likely give you oxytetracycline (tablets). Gets rid of spots great and the doctor isnt assed how long you use them, but they usually put you on for 6 months. Ive never had bad acne, or even normal but fairly heavy acne, but i went anyway and the doc sorted me out with them. Nowadays i take on like once or twice a week when i stumble across the box (your meant to take 2 a day if your on them properly) of them and now i ltierally have no spots becasue of it. They're awesome i think.

keeping your back clean and exfoliating it (or just get a back brush and scrub it) will help as well, providing you dont go mad and scrape all your skin.

I had a bad case of acne on my back and antibiotics simply wouldn't shift it, along with any amount of washing/scrubbing/sun etc. In the end I was prescribed Roaccutane by a dermatologist which did the trick after a couple of months. If you haven't had it yet, there's probably a good reason, but perhaps you could mention the drug. As I understand it however, the dermatologist has to sanction the treatment though, not just a GP.

Hope you feel better soon. I know how it feels.

Ah, that explains it. Sounds a bit more serious than acne to me. Can't help you there then. Sorry.

its crap when you get that odd sort of uber, half under the skin spot on your back and when your innocently itching your back or bump into something it cathces it and it STINGS so bad. Those types of spots are terrible, thankfully they're usually uncommon.

I don't think this is likely to be just acne. Wait for the blood tests, they'll be taking your case seriously now, so I'm sure you'll hear something soon. If it gets worse in the meantime, go and see them again.

Roaccutane, If it is acne you're suffering from, will work absolute wonders. Push your GP to refer you to a dermatologist who can prescribe it for you.

They are hesitant because it has been linked with depression and an array of other side effects. The majority of people who take it will just get dry skin/hair/lips for a while which will improve after ceasing treatment. The dermatologist will explain all this and allow you to make an informed decision but it sounds like this is really bothering you so i'd strongly consider it in your position.

^^ Um... thanks for that! Neg repped for your efforts mate.

EDIT; post above has been deleted, so this now makes no sence what so ever... ah well, why do I bother!?

who are you negging? Doesnt seem to have been anything unreasonable said here.

So all your spots are these uber painful ones? How do you live day to day? Leaning on a wall or resting your back on a chair must be agony.

How often do you change your bed sheets? If you change them every week that should help. It stopped mine anyways.
I have spots on my back, not nice. Been like this for as long as I've had spots in general but now I'm 19 and in the last half a year or so there has been quite a drastic decline in them. In fact really it's just the old ones taking a while to go away...

So my advise? Just wait for it to go with age, it's not the end of the world!
Have the same problem. My back acne is horribly severe and I'm off for a dermatologist appointment on the 6th of august to be prescribed roaccutane.

She said the situation was bad and that I was in need of this treatment a.s.a.p. So I agree with others organise a dermatologist appointment and get on roaccutane fast. Quicker you do it the more likely you'll avoid scarring. I'm just hoping it's not too late personally myself. :frown:

i have mild acne ness on my chest and back, not as bad as what your saying though but you must not pick at it or touch it at all or else it will get so much worse. i know this sounds grose but get someone else to squeeze out any black heads etc for you or they will turn into spots. you can use antibacterial soap and scrub it everyday with a back brush (try to keep the area as dry as possible) you can also get tablets that can help either from the doctor or from health food type shops that are more natural that work really well.
when i went on holiday i got really sunburnt and it all went away (im not saying thats a good solution though because it hurt so much!)
