Received my confirmation letter yesterday for Coventry. It said on the letter I will need to bring my passport to enrolment and that they would not accept driving licence and birth certificates. This is an issue as I've never had an adult passport (never been abroad), and I've never needed to it as people have always accepted a driving licence with Birth certificate.

Is anyone else in this predicament? I can't apply for a passport because I've sent my birth certificate to Student Finance which could take 6 weeks or more. When I do get it back, it'll take another 3-4 weeks to apply for a new passport. I dont understand why Coventry don't accept a driving licence and B.C when other universities, for example Aston, do. I've emailed them, so just waiting for a reply. Just kind of stressing now, as I might not even be able to start uni this year

I was in the same boat as you, having not been abroad and obviously don't have a passport. If you've applied/have a debit card, it'll be exactly the same process that you had to do for that, where they'll just ask you to provide original birth certificate document and a document which shows your National Insurance number on it, e.g. pay slip or the original letter. Any other information you need that should ease your mind is on the enrolment guide on the website, and the information you're looking for is on Page 6: http://www.coventry.ac.uk/Global/03%...ment-Guide.pdf

You almost definitely don't need it of SFE have confirmed your nationality/resident status. As I'm sure they'll say when they email you back. I'd still recommend sorting a passport though, Coventry has loads of opportunities to travel abroad, and lots of funding available to help, but you'll obviously need a passport, so get one now/ASAP to spread the costs and be prepared to take the opportunities university provides
