The Student Room Group

I got a room at Devonshire :)

Has anybody else here been assigned to Devonshire? I have (self catered), and I'm so happy. I just really fell in love with the place when I went to look round.

A question though - does anybody have any idea about en suite rooms at Dev? I've been assigned to block D, and as I said, I'm self catered, but there's no information about what type of bathroom I've got.

Oooh I'm so excited...
Block D self-catered is en-suite. You'll be in Grosvenor Court across the road from the main building.

ooh, i'm really happy about being en suite!

what's grosvenor court like? i can't find much on google.
It's an area of Dev comprised of 6 blocks- A-F (I think) They're relatively modern compared to the rest of Dev. Grosvenor has its own small car park and is surrounded by lots of trees. It's across the road from the main bit of Dev so is naturally a little detached from all the main goings-on but that all depends on how detached you allow yourself to become.

i'm a really sociable person so hopefully it will all work out fine.

can i ask you a few questions, along the lines of, what was your room like? tiny, huge? what are the actual flats like? is there a living area and is the kitchen ok? that kind of thing... any info would be great as i'm struggling to find much information about devonshire on the internet and haven't yet recieved anything in the post either...
Devonshire have got their own facebook group where new students can ask questions, get to know their future flat mates and find out exactly what will be going on in their halls. Check out:

Devonshire Hall 07/08
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=3230600617

This should hopefully help answer some of your questions as the wardens and head of the social committee are on there to help you out!

The rooms are pretty big and the en suites are decent. The kitchens have a dining table in the middle which is the only communal area and are pretty basic but you won't find much better in student accomodation. You just have to make sure you go to all the social events in the first week or so, as I found last year that it was mainly catered people who went. The pub golf is defo worth goin on. hope this helps.

sounds great! it's a pity there is no living room area but devonshire sounds like really good halls from the sound of it...

Thought I'd join in. I was in block C. All the rooms differ quite a lot, some people had huge huge rooms, others quite small. I loved mine though. No living area, just a decent sized kitchen. Kitchen isn't super modern but you get used to it being a bit naff as long as you keep it clean it's fine.

Rooms are fine, with en-suite which you will really appreciate. My window looked out on to trees and the old Dev Hall which was lovely.
You get a wardrobe with not nearly as much space as you'd like, a bed, bedside table, desk, two chairs, bin.
I loved it!
