permantly straightening hair

hey im interested in permanently straightening my hair, but dont dont have the money to afford doing it professionally or anything, but i have heard people say that they use perm solution and leave the hair straight as opposed to leaving it in curls and apparently this works. does anyone know where i can buy perm solution from? either from a shop or online? thanks
ps i tried the boots straightening stuff and it didnt work

I'm sorry, I'm not able to answer your question - but I do want you to think carefully about what you'll be doing to your hair.

Even chemically straightening your hair professionally at a hairdresser's will leave it weak & you're likely to have strands break off - it's extremely damaging to your hair & if you're doing it by yourself at home, then you could end up with the wrong result & you might end up regretting it.

Can I ask why you want to straighten your hair? What's it like at the moment (wavy, curly)? Do you normally use straighteners or blow dry your hair straight?
Oh Gosh, I wouldn't recommend that tbh. Perming solution is a bugger to grow out... and you'd be taking a huge risk - what if it looks awful? You'd be stuck with it until it grew out.

Your best bet is to save up and get some GHD's or something.

I read somewhere you can get a chemical straightening kit for about £15 at Boots but yeah, they're so chemically your better off not doing it and takes loads of aftercare... As above said, get some straighteners

yeah you can my sister almost bought it a few months ago but I managed to talk her out of it, it looked a bit dodgy - I don't recommend it!

You can buy Teeda hair straightener from Lloyds pharmacy for about a tenner. My mother saw a girl before and after she did it and she said it'd worked well and her hair looked fine.

My friend just used the £15 Boots one.. and she said after using it she don't need her straightners no more! I'm planning on doing mine today

at the moment my hair is curly and id just like to tame them by straightening them. i dont do anything to my hair never really have done as its curly, but recently ive been growing it a bit more and i like the length i am getting it to and just reckon it would be nicer as a bit more straighter. im not looking for dead straight hair or anything, just more managable wavy hair. i think ill just probably try the boots kit, surely it cant be that bad if its sold over the counter?

I've never tried it personally, but there've been a couple of threads about the boots kit:

Read through them before you buy it - there's been good & bad reviews about it!

"straight perms" are my saviours and my worst nightmare in one. i have both used chemical straightening kits, and i've also done it for other people for a small fee, so i like to think i'm a semi-proffessional!lol
FACT- it damages your hair. is breaks down the properties that make hair curly. the extent of the damage depend on the aftercare. if you're going to chemically straighten your hair you MUST look after it properly! never let it become too dry, have regular trims, do not over-process it. THIS WILL continually weaken the hair and encourage breakage. straight perms therefore increase hair breakage.
look after your hair, and the chemicals shouldn't affect it too much.
if this is the first time i would recommend you ask someone with experience to help you/go to a hairdressers, ESPECIALLY if you have dyed hair.
saying all this, chemically straightening you hair can leave it silky smooth and saves you a fortune on GHD'S!
hope this helps!

What about for guys?

Always hated having substantially wavy hair, and being a keen swimming/sports enthusiast/player theres no point manually straightening.

Would it be cheaper for me? what would happen?

If you have the money, I'd recommend the Yuko system. I've had it done several times and highly recommend it.
