I'm taking my entire wardrobe. At the moment I can't fit in half of the stuff but I'm hoping to hit the gym a lot and get back into them. Shame it will be fashion from the 1990s. LOL. But who cares when you're a student?

im also takin my entire wardrobe i just dont no if i hav enough stuff.
i need to be so carful that i dont put on any weight. i just bought some new jeans (next sale. only place in my town that sales the size of jeans i wear) and i dont want to have to buy new ones lol
i had a clear out of my wardrobe and took everything left over... youre going to be there all year, so you might aswell take everything.

there were things i needed to buy.. waterproof boots for example as all my shoes kept getting soaked in the winter.

The other week I threw out everything I don't wear anymore, so Ih aven't got many clothes left. Every pay day I'm buying more stuff. I don't know how much I'll take. Not going to bother taking a lot of summery with me the first time, cause it'll probs be cold, or knowing this weather we'll have the sunniest winter ever haha.
O my god! Firstly- I'm adicted to clothes and shopping!! Secondly Im from Ireland so ill be bringin practically every item of clothing I own cos there is no way ill be payin Ryanair luggage fees everytime I realise i need this top or that pair of shoes wen im home for holidays!!!!

Yes I know Hall rooms are tiny and we wont have the same storage we have at home but dear god I simply couldnt leave my babies behind hence why ill be bringin at least 3 suitcases of clothes!!!

Haha you women..

I'll take my wardrobe...probably fit everything into 1 suitcase. I reckon 7 pairs of trousers, a load of t-shirts and a couple of jumpers should be enough. Maybe some sports stuff on top. That's probably about it.

THREE SUITCASES? I don't even own half that much. I'll just take the few things I've got that are good and buy some more when I get there - I need some new stuff anyway.

Ah, i have so many things to buy this summer that i doubt i'll have any money left to spend on clothes  Looks like i'll be living in my hoodie all year

I'm just taking a few pairs of £3 Asda (or is it Tesco) jeans and some plain T-shirts from Matalan £3 each. I've already got a few of both of them (well they're all I have in my wardrobe to be honest) but I might buy a few more. I'd much rather spend my money on important things like food and booze than on expensive clothes.
I took a few pairs of jeans, a few pairs of jogging bottoms, a few tops, a few jumpers/cardigans, my trainers and my coat. Then later on in the year, I added a few 3/4 length jeans and denim skirts, took away the jumpers/cardigans, added a pair of pumps and swapped my coat for a denim jacket. Oh, and I took a couple of dresses and a pair of shoes for balls. You really don't need that many clothes because- a) you need to fit all your stuff in the car and probably lug it up stairs when you get there, b) you don't get much storage space, c) you have to do your own washing (and pay for it if you're in self catered, at least at Exeter) and d) students are slobs! We live in T-shirts, hoodies, jeans, jogging bottoms and trainers. It's not unusual for students to go to lectures in their PJs! Even when we go out, we don't bother dressing up unless it's a formal dinner/ball.
Ive just started going back to the gym again and ive grown out of all my clothes which i spent a fortune on. God knows what im gonna wear lol
Why can't you just use your loan to buy clothes?

I am getting about £5400 per year (exc. tuition fees), plus about £2700 in unrepayable grants. Even with a £90 p/w rent outlay, I will still be able to afford a few pairs of designer jeans every week.

I really can't understand what the problem is. You are making a big deal out of nothing.
I cant use my loan as i have debts to pay off

Because some of us don't get that much money, my weekly budget will be around £30 (once rent has been taken away), £20-25 of which will go towards necesities like food. So that leaves... £5-10 pounds if my maths is correct, do you seriously think that I can afford even 1 pair of non-designer jeans plus entertainment such as going out for a night on that kind of money? not all of us are as lucky as you.

:ditto:
Hmm not sure how many clothes I'll be taking, mostly winter stuff since I'll be coming home at chrismas and can take my summer things with me then. Not a big priority I must say...

Because some of us simply dont have that much money!
By the time I've paid for my accommodation, I'm gonna have £500 per YEAR to spend, and I have to buy all my own food etc cos I'm in self catering.
Thats what the big deal is, mate!

its not making a big deal out of nothing as most people once rent, food & nights out etc are covered that leaves very little for clothes all that often...

the only way you'll be able to afford designer jeans every week is if you become a hermit like you've said you'll be in your other posts...so i don't see why you need designer jeans if you plan on not making friends, taking part in the social side of things & not attending lectures or just falling asleep in them!!
I haven't got hardly anything to take with me clothes wise! I'm going to wait and see if I get in first before I start spending any money on things to take with me. I won't have a lot of money after paying for accomodation and everything else so I guess I'll have to ask my parents to help me out before I go and just hope that I don't need anything too major whilst I'm away.
