Fainted at interview!

I don't know whats wrong with me I think im mentally ill or something but today I had a job interview and fainted a few minutes after I sat down, I still feel a bit lightheaded from it now. I just got all worked up but for some really stupid reason, I think thats what caused it but it might have been just the heat as my dad said I looked pale. A few days before I went though I imagined the interview what he looked like and he was exactly how Id imagined him which was so weird, then I got anxious, saw like white dots and my eyes went blurry then woke up on the floor. He said don't worry as it was hot in the room etc and that his mate fainted once in a shop he was nice with me. The same thing also happened when I went for work experience not the fainting but the boss was exactly how Id imagined, unless im having memory loss and saw a photo of her but can't remember but I don't see why I would. Im going to the gp tomorrow about the fainting but I really don't know whats wrong Ive fainted before and the nurse said it was vascular syncope but I don't know why I freak myself out. I have another interview next week anyway:redface:

do you mean vasovagal syncope?

Yeah thats it, damn it says that it typically happens throughout life :frown: Its scary not knowing when the next one is going to happen.

I guess all you can do is pinpoint the specific trigger for each time it happened like the articles says, and avoid it. Anyway, did you still manage to give the interview? I shouldn't think it'll have any overall bearing on whether you get the job or not.

No I have another interview next week, I didn't say anything over than anxiously - 'hi, how are you'. The thing is I can't avoid the triggers if the triggers are sn essential part of life, ie interviews and working, I fainted on my very first day of work at 17, also sat in a college lesson, not worked since but if I get this job I will be. Im wondering if the warning signs come on, the only way to really prevent it is to lie down, but people will think im weird if i suddenly lie down lol, so whats the best thing to do? If someone fainted in front of you would you then get the impression that they were weak or ill?

Well obviously all is not well if they're passed out on the floor, so yeah. If work/interviews are your trigger then only a GP could tell you how to tackle them. In my unprofessional opinion it sounds nerves-related as it seems to happen always in a stressful situation such as a first day of something or an interview. If so it sounds psychological, and might require counselling. Hope it gets sorted soon x

fainting all the time has got to be one of the most all time suckyest complaints going. Especially when you dont know its going to happen! Its like that crazy dog who never knows when its going to fall asleep and hits the deck fast asleep when its in the middle of running. Oh man, ive got to find that clip again.

OMFG Ive found it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbmbQkX7czo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zVCYdrw-1o&mode=related&search= - that one too. This one is classic, hes just running and then hits the deck.

its probably the stress that caused this bout so as you goo on more intervies it will probably get easier.

as was said try and identify one of the triggers

hmm- lot of people have the name anonymous then! whats happened to the TSR! i'm well confused!

Reply 18

do you know what the meaning of anonymous is? how can you have 2,500 posts and not know? Unless your being poorly ironic (i.e. most irony you can spot fairly easily)

I think it could also be stress, but if the room was hot it could've also been lack of water. I've fainted twice from that.
