Concerned about my girlfriend

Anon because friends of mine use this website & my girlfriend would not want anyone to know this about her.

This is mostly my girlfriends problem but seeing her reaction to it really worried me & I became quite concerned about it. I think this post is mainly for what might be wrong and what she can do about it, but also what I can do to help.

It may be two separate problems but I'm not too sure.

My girlfriend was a virgin before we started going out & we've been having sex for a few weeks, maybe four or five weeks.

We were having sex and when we had finished, there was quite a lot of blood on the condom, and it was her blood. She was distraught and really upset about it, so I told her not to worry, and asked maybe her period had come early and she didn't know, but she told me it was only two weeks and a couple of days since her last one. After that she told me that since we'd started having sex she'd been having two periods - once every two weeks.

She became really flustered and very upset about it and I had to do a lot of comforting and stuff to get her just to show her face again which she'd just like buried in my chest.

I'm just dead concerned incase there's something wrong and because she's so upset about it.
Bleeding is natural when you first start having sex, as it breaks the hymen. It's highly unlikely that she gets 2 periods a month. Was it a one off, or does she bleed every time you have sex.
The blood only happened once? Hymen? Or maybe you were too rough?
hey op.

don't worry, i was just the same because its a girls hymen breaking which is causing the bleed. also it could be that the after first time it could be erosion of the cervix wall which you might be aggrevating and causing the bleeding too. nothing to worry about but perhaps using KY jelly to ease the dryness which is causing the bleeding, it helps with lubrication and moisture levels of the vagina which can dry with repeative sex.

hope this helps. if you are still worried, seek advice from her GP.

This wasn't the first time we've had sex, we've been doing it quite regularly for over a month.

It was a one-off, and there was quite a lot of blood.
Yep, sounds like the hymen to me. Tell her she has nothing to worry about.

Oh right. Didn't think that could happen after so long :s
She said it didn't hurt at all?
Cheers anyway

What about the two week period thing?

If you've only been having sex for about a month, then the two periods in a cycle thing is most likely due to hormonal changes. If it keeps happening, get her to see a GP.
I don't think it's possible to have more than one period a month, that isn't how the cycle works. :s Perhaps to be on the safe side she should speak to her GP just to rule out any medical problems and put her mind at ease.

I see. I suggested the doctor but she really didn't fancy it, don't know why.
I think she's going to wait though and if it happens again, go to the doctor.

What can I say to her to calm her down a bit though, she got really worked up about it, and she keeps saying shes really really embarrassed.
It is possible to have more than one period a month. However, if the OP and girlfriend have only been having sex for four or five weeks that presumably means that she has only had 1 early period, which isn't exactly uncommon.
