I did M4 in January 2004 but didn't do too well on it so i retook it this July. The thing is that i think i might have done better on the January paper..........does this mean that Edexcel will take this better result and disregard what i get for July????

Let me guess, you got 79% in January jk... Just I see so many people saying they have done terribly because they get such and such, sure thats not the case with you though...

But yea, you get your highest UMS result.

Remember you only get your best UMS mark out of two consecutive sittings.

For example if you were to retake again in january(05), then you would have to discard your previous january(04) mark, and take the best out of jun04/jan05.

And you may not have done as badly as you think in M4 June 04 as it was a particularly nasty paper (my whole F.Maths class agreed it was a v.nasty one), so dont give up hope yet.

Surely that position was abandoned by QCA in autumn 2003?!

Can you provide a link please? I got that information from my collage so it could possible be outdated, but i was under the impression that the consecutive rule still applied.

This confirms that the rule has changed.

You should sue your College if you teachers have left students study for all 2004 under the wrong impression that they have only two chances with their modules. The change has major implications for many students!
