Hi, I've decided to do Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics for A Level and am wondering how much overlap there is between the mechanics modules in Maths and the mechanics in physics. Also, which mechanics modules in maths are the most useful for A-Level physics.
I'm doing OCR MEI (Old Spec) Maths and Further Maths and am doing AQA (new spec) Physics.

Also, is it better to specialise in either Statistics or Mechanics (e.g. M1 to M4 or S1 to S4) or do some of each. Which would you recommend for someone who doesn't know what they're doing at uni yet?

Hey there is a slight overlap I would say between M1 and M2 and A Level Physics where if you cover some of the same concepts but the maths is different in both of them. But A Level Maths isn't required for Physics so it doesn't matter if you don't do mechanics.

It shouldn't really make a difference what you specialise in because if your course at uni required the topics covered in those modules, they would go over it themselves. Could you not try out say M1 and S1 and see which you prefer before you decide what to specialise in?
