A few people in my flat brought consoles, but they played them together on the little TV in the kitchen, so it wasn't anti-social. If you're in self catered and you get a communal TV, that could be an option. Othwerwise I'd personally say it's not worth it because you won't really have time to play it, but it depends how much you generally use it.
i wanted to bring one, then everyone strted telling me how much he might get robbed
On the engineering course, you won't have the time. Personally, i have a 9-5 course (vet sci) and your evenings and free time are always filled with homework, revision, drinking, socialising, sport and going to the gym.

Plus, getting a game console at uni is pretty unsociable. Its a good way of failing your exams. Also, if its left in a communal area and someone steals or breaks it, you're ****ed basically, you're not covered on insurance and no one will happily dole out a couple of hundred quid, they'll all plead student poverty.

Save your money and do something constructive, go out and socialise, its better for you.
It's no more anti social than bringing say, novels to uni. I brought my consoles, I still saw my friends loads, there's nothing wrong with wanting to relax on your own sometimes...
I thought about bringing my US NTSC Wii to school but not only would it be an incredible pain in the ass to haul the relatively small system and my relatively few games to London, but it would also be difficult to not only find a television (since I am in a flat-style residence) but to find the proper hookups for it. Even then, I am not sure it would function on PAL screens. So, alas, I'll be video game-less for the first time in a very long time. Ah well. Probably better things to do in London!
Games consoles can actually be more sociable than you think. Bring one in for the kitchen with 4 controllers and you get all the boys from your floor playing. It's great fun, especially pro evo after a few cans.

I will probably take one of mine with me but only because I can use it as a dvd player lol.
Was planning to take my ps2 with me cause i've already asked people at my uni what they're doing and consoles seem to be a popular choice. Probably keep it in my room and have a few folk over for a drink and some random button bashing, that way i'm still being sociable and less chance of it getting broken then if it's in a communal area.
No word of a lie this is what i had at my flat this year at uni (all at the same time!) PS2, PSOne, Dreamcast, N64, SNES, Gamegear, GBA and (occasionally and xbox)

Is it safe to say you didn't see much sunlight then? :p:

Take it, I took my Xbox and me and my friends played on it almost every day. It's actually quite a social thing, and I never touched it unless a mate was round.
You will have time for a bit of Xbox, even if you are doing lots of hours. We used to have N64 tournaments when I was at uni, great fun (showing my age there a bit).

Lol, just a tad!

I've only got a Gamecube with two controllers, so I'm thinking of buying a couple more... or I might not bother and hope some people in my flat have got better consoles than me!

Bit of the old multiplayer GoldenEye or Mario Kart 64, that's what it's all about!

I'll be taking my SNES most probably - nothing too expensive or too large. Saying that i am ADDICTED to anything nintendo so i'll probably end up dragging the entire franchise a long with me

Ah, brings back memories.

I wouldn't have even thought about taking one last year (and definitely didn't regret not taking one), but this year with our own flat and a tv I'm taking up my Gamecube for a bit of Mario Kart.
